Totalsports and Fives Futbol have teamed up for the 4th year running for Mandela Day 2018

‘Plant A Ball’ campaign is about kick-starting a chain reaction through something as simple as a football. Everyone knows the life skills and opportunities that can come through sport are endless, and so by gifting footballs to communities provides a catalyst for change.

Organisers are excited about the growth of the project over the last few years. 2017 they launched a prototype website (www.plantaball.co.za) that logs and tracks each ball that gets planted. For the first time in 2018, they will be donating footballs in Durban as well as Cape Town and Johannesburg.

They are looking to maximise this platform in 2018 with high quality content. They will also add a participation layer whereby the public can support their communities/ schools / NGOs etc to receive balls.

iThemba Lethu  will be allocated a certain number of footballs and then the number will be expanded depending on the number of people who support on social media/the website.

iThemba Lethu activation will take place on Saturday 30 June 2018 at the Chesterville Extention field from 08h00 – 14h00 – estimated 250 Grade 8 and 9 learners will participate in partnership with the Youth and Parent Team
