KZN WOMEN IN BUSINESS
A very exciting door opened for iThemba Lethu when Karen Allanby, the chairperson of KZN Women in Business (WIB), informed us that iThemba Lethu had been nominated as charity of their choice for 2007. Not only does iThemba Lethu receive a monthly donation, but this has also given us numerous networking opportunities and a platform to present our programmes.

Easvarie Naidoo, who attends the KZN WIB, and who is the regional manager, KZN collections, at African Bank, has motivated her staff to support iThemba Lethu by collecting groceries, baby clothes and monetary donations for the home. She and her staff recently visited the home and held a party for the children.

Through KZN WIB, Glenda Algie (Co-ordinator) was also given the opportunity to speak about iThemba Lethu at Ann Robinson's GET CONNECTING meeting. Get Connecting is a business network for small, medium and micro business enterprises.

VISIT FROM QUINCY JONES
In April 2006 Unicef arranged for Quincy Jones to come and visit the iThemba Lethu home where breastmilk is stored and fed to the babies who have been abandoned and/ or infected by HIV/Aids.

VISIT FROM THE 'BAND 100 HOURS'
In September 2004 the lead singer, Tre, and the band manager, Juli, from the Christian band - 100 Hours - visited iThemba Lethu and spent time with some of the young people at a Friday afternoon youth club. The children sang for the band, and Tre then sang for the children. It was a lovely afternoon. For more information on the work that Tre is involved in around the world, visit the website: www.engagehivaids.com.

LOUISE EAMES
Louise Eames arrived from the UK in January 2006 to volunteer for 9 months. She was an amazing help and friend to the children who loved her. Whilst Louise was in South Africa, her parents, Mick and Sue decided to get involved by raising funds on iThemba Lethu's behalf.

GRAHAM DOVER
A family in the UK who is supportive of the iThemba Lethu programmes, recently decided to raise funds for the project. They decided to do something different and got the whole family involved. The fundraising event took place on the 8th of July in their home town in England. The father, Graham, decided to row a marathon, 3 of his good friends ran a marathon, (combining their totals) and Graham's children, Sam, Susie and Sarah, cycled a marathon (combining their totals). The amount raised was £2,276 which has been deposited into the iThemba Lethu account.

It is contributions such as these that enable us to continue running the programmes that we do. Thank-you for your wonderful and innovative support.
