PARENTS OPEN GARDEN TO AID LOUISE'S WORK WITH ORPHANS

Louise Eames hopes that your support will ensure South African Aids orphans can be cared for after she leaves for home in September

A LOCAL nursery nurse who is helping orphans of AIDS in South Africa is branching out in her mission to support the children in her care. Louise Eames (26) from Middle Rasen is nearing the end of her nine months in a transition home with the carity iThemba Lehtu in Durban.
She has been using her skills honed with Abacus in South Kelsey and other nurseries since leaving De Aston School. Now, to extend her legacy after returning home in September,
her parents Sue and Mick Eames are opening their garden to raise funds for iThemba Lethu. Dr Eames will open the gates on his extensive area of 26 years of creativity at 43 Church Street, Middle Rasen on Sunday, August 13 from 1.30 to 5.30pm.
Louise was so determined to help children across the world that she slef-financed her trip through savings made over 3 years. The half a dozen children in her care at any one time, from a few months old to school age, have all been affected rather than infected by Aids.
“Louise had wanted to do something like this for a long time; taking her work with children to somewhere where she felt that it would really make a difference,” said Mrs Eames. “And she has thoroughly enjoyed it. She has given a lot and got a lot back.”
Entry to the garden on Sunday is £1.50- and further donations will be welcomed.

MICK AND SUE HAVE A REAL PASSION FOR PLANTS

Sue Eames relaxes in the garden she and husband
Mich are opening next week.

The garden created by local GP, Dr Mick Eames at his home will be opened next week for viewing. Dr Eames and his wife Sue have created a labyrinth of garden rooms over the past 26 years - and is being developed daily. The couple hope to raise funds to support a centre in South Africa caring for children orphaned or displaced by the Aids virus, where their daughter Louise is currently working. Dr Eames’s passion for plants is perfectly evident in the garden which includes two ponds, a bog garden, sunked garden, vegetables, beautiful arrangement of trees and shrubs and a newly created hosta bed. He is only interested in unusual plants rarely seen in other people’s gardens and has a theory that if a plant cannot survive in his plot without watering - it has no right to be there. This makes Mich and Sue Eames’ garden a fascinating insight into drought tolerant planting. But the garden is so much more, it isthe stunning and well kept result of a passion for plants combined with the demands of family life involving three football mad sons. It is ever changing and evolving as he has a fresh urge to develop a nerw bed and thanks to Sue it is emmaculately kept.
The garden at 43 Church Street, Middle Rasen, is open on August 13, 1.30pm to 5.30pm. Entry £1.50
