The Nation Builder initiative was launched earlier this year and iThemba Lethu was selected as one of the participating non-profit organisations. The aim of the campaign is to pair business with specific accredited charities to facilitate effective giving on behalf of the business and effective impact on behalf of the charity.
Nation Builder status represents responsible social investment through supporting accredited organisations that have developed impactful ways of affecting lasting change to our nation.
Some of the benefits of becoming a Nation Builder through the support of selected projects include:
SIMPLE INVESTMENT PLATFORM
Nation Builder offers corporates, and other donors, a simple tool for investing responsibly in accredited Nation Builder projects. All the benefits of giving, but with the added benefits of a greater combined social and economic development outcome, which means more impact for one’s social investment commitment.
PROJECT CREDIBILITY:
These are projects that are making an outstanding contribution in the area of social and economic
development – providing assurance that you are investing in a community project which has a proven ability to effect positive change in the area of social and economic development.
GREATER IMPACT:
While these investments could include monetary donations, time, resources, preferential procurement
agreements or services, your contribution to a Nation Builder project, alongside other corporate investors’ contributions, will achieve greater impact through combined investments, efforts and influence.
REGULATORY AND TAX BENEFITS:
All donations to Nation Builder organisations qualify for social investment benefits such as BBBEE points and tax benefits, and come with the extra assurance that each initiative has undergone due diligence, has an excellent track record and is regularly assessed. RECOGNITION:
Nation Builder donor businesses and resource partners are able to use the Nation Builder icon in
recognition of the important role they play in ‘Building tomorrow, today’. In addition, the Nation Builder website will feature Nation Builder supporter businesses and organisations in order to generate exposure for supporters of the Nation Builder initiative
INFLUENCE:
The Nation Builder campaign is a ‘call to action’ to all South Africans. Displaying the Nation Builder logo on daily communication vehicles will challenge others to become fellow Nation Builders.
COMPANY MORALE
Nation Builder encourages all employees and individuals to also participate in building our nation together. Leading by example in this creates a company ethos of responsible giving, commitment to ‘giving back to the community’ and social justice awareness which lends itself to unity, sense of pride and a passion for participating in nation building!
